With Valentine's Day right around the corner, the idea of a romantic refresh of your bedroom sounds like the perfect way to set the mood for you and your significant other. And what better way to do it than to incorporate the ever-popular color pink? This trendy hue can actually be gender neutral and extremely versatile in its shades and tones. Pink is both sophisticated and elegant. And assuming you haven't been living under a rock, you know that this soft pastel is having a major moment blowing up instagram feeds all over (of course, be sure to follow us as it's one of our favorite colors, too!).
Today we turned to Decorist Design Director Jessica McCarthy—who is admittedly a pink-a-holic—to get her thoughts on how to use this popular hue to make your bedroom look on trend yet timeless and chic. See her favorite ways to incorporate this color into your own home decor!
Stick with one tone
Create an elegant bedroom by picking one shade of pink and sticking with it. We love this example taking a really soft pale blush and using the same tone in the furniture, paint color and window treatments. Using one shade of the same color versus multiple shades will keep the space cohesive and create a truly calm and relaxing look.
Keep in gender neutral
Pink is a color that looks beautiful when contrasting with darker tones. We love mixing pink with soft grey, deep navy and even sultry shades of black. The contrast is not only beautiful but allows the space to become more gender neutral. We love incorporating pops of pink on pillows, throws and even incorporated in upholstery.
Experiment with different shades of pink
As pink has become more prominent in the design industry, we are now exposed to more shades of pink than we ever thought possible. From pinks that are so light they feel like the new neutral to pinks with deep and rich jewel undertones, it has never been easier to find a pink that is reflective of you.
Use pink as an accent
Of course, you don't need to have your room covered head to toe in pink. It's such a versitale color that it's also fun to use it as an accent whether in your pillows, rug, throw or even headboard.
Go neon!
Nothing screams 2018 than a millenial pink neon sign in your favorite quote. This is the easist way to add a dramatic touch of pink to your bedroom without having to change any other decor.
Try wallpaper
The perfect way to add a bit of texture, pattern and interest to your bedroom? Source a pink wallpaper to create an impactful accent wall or go for a removable wallpaper as an alternative to paint in your rental.
